Last Thursday, fashionistas, media people and shoe-lovers gathered at the Rizal Ballroom at Makati Shangri La Hotel to witness how Primadonna redefined itself as the brand launches its newest collection and welcomes the future with a bright star, their newest endorser, Anne Curtis.
While waiting for the show to start, sumptuous food and unlimited drinks were served. Guests were also invited to take the Primadonna Shoe Personality Quiz on Facebook (my result: Classy & Sassy). And then, these gigantic shoes caught my eyes!
Primadonna is a lifestyle footwear brand that carries the latest in women's footwear. It started with three (3) stores in 2007 but because of its intense commitment to carry the season's latest trends and must-haves, it now has grown into a retail force of over 42 fashionably dynamic outlets.
Armed with an eye for what cosmopolitan women want, Primadonna goes into full gear with a brand new vision in footwear fashion. With its distinct selection of on-trend pieces, Primadonna speaks to a variety of personalities, bringing to life the brand's philosophy: "Different Shoe for a Different You." After all, shoes really brings out the character in an outfit. This brand's philosophy was perfectly depicted when these models showcased how living the Primadonna lifestyle is all about limitless fashionable choices.

I was getting something at SM Beauty Section days ago when I saw a nice deal posted on the Sally Hansen stall; - "Buy One Complete Salon Manicure Polish and Get One Insta-Dri Fast Nail Polish for FREE!" So without over thinking things, I immediately grabbed the Sally Hansen polish that I have been lurking for the longest time. See below!

Kiss Kiss,
I love perfumes! Spraying them on my skin is my everyday indulgence. For me, scent is a personal statement. It is a way of expressing myself and in conveying my personality to others. So when we were told that after the Laura Mercier Workshop, we will go straight to the Rustan's Grand Mall fragrance boutique for a little tour, my heart leaped with excitement!
We were first introduced to Diptyque, - a brand which was founded by three artisans who perhaps because of their common interest and passion, eventually became friends and partners.
These mini candles can be lighted on their own or combined with different scents to create a unique atmosphere. I never thought of lighting two or more different candles at the same time, so this was a nice tip for me. :)
Next, we have Herbas de Ibiza, - a cult favorite perfume range in England.
If there is one particular brand that focuses on creating that flawless face, it is no other than Laura Mercier Cosmetics. Known for equipping every woman to achieve that incredibly even, smooth and natural-looking complexion, it doesn't come as a surprise that this brand has been the top choice of supermodels and Hollywood actresses like Claudia Schiffer, Julia Ormond, Christy Turlington, Meryll Streep, Susan Sarandon, Linda Evangelista and the ever incomparable Madonna. I am no celebrity but I swear by their Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer with SPF20 and their skin line. However, I feel that I still haven't given this brand that attention it truly deserves. Fortunately, I was given that chance to know the brand a bit more through their Bloggers' Event which was held last Wednesday at East Cafe, Rustan's Makati.
(Outfit: Red Cardigan: Mango, Dress: TopShop, Bag: Liz Claiborne)
The event started with a brief introduction about the brand. Shortly after, Qua, the brand's make up artist was introduced.
He demonstrated how to achieve that "flawless face:Laura Mercier style". We were graced by a very lovely model, Sarah of Fashion Eggplant!
First is the Foundation Primer, which creates a perfectly even surface to keep skin smooth. The Foundation is then applied as the second step for added moisture and to build-up coverage. Third is the much coveted Secret Camouflage and Concealer which magically hides unwanted skin imperfections like blemishes, discolorations and the ever present under eye circles. Last step is to apply the Setting Powder to keep the make up in place while giving a sheer look even after applying layers of powder!
And while Qua was busy finishing Sarah's make up, some items from their Holiday 2011 Collection were presented to us.
If you follow me on Twitter, you probably already know how devastated I was few days ago. The culprit? This scenario: a good number of my Nars make up lying on our parking floor, shattered to a million pieces. Why? What happened? I was moving my things from my old flat to my new place when my boyfriend accidentally dropped the second layer of my make up drawer. I burst into tears while my trembling hands picked each one of them from the ground. My Dior and Chanel blushes survived the fall (their velvet pouches protected them) but some of my Nars blushes (and one eye shadow) did not make it. I was shocked and totally heartbroken. After coping with my make-up related semi-depression (which took days), I finally decided to move on. I went to Rustan's Shangri La and bought new ones!
I would like to inform you boys and girls about this massive sale event that I will be heading this weekend. Tadah! Presenting the RCBC Bankard Exclusive: BIG GARMENTS SALE!

You all probably know by now that Nars is my all time favorite make up brand. That's why I can't help it but get all giggly and happy every time I see pegs of the brand's latest collection.
Francois Nars noted that this collection is unique and unorthodox because “at first glance, all the pinks and shimmer can look very sweet and innocent, but actually there is a lot of bold and contrasting color – a gray-lavender eyeshadow, a navy blue Soft Touch Shadow Pencil, a hot pink lip color, for example – that makes the collection edgier and more sophisticated than it may seem.” Now continue hitting the scroll bar and let us feast on Nars Spring 2012 Collection piece by piece!
Nars Douce France Trio Eye Shadow (shimmery icy pink, shimmery rose-petal pink, and matte deep rose) - Limited edition.
Nars Paramaribo Duo Eye Shadow (brass and bronze) - Limited Edition.
Nars Lhasa Single Eye Shadow (shimmery lavender-gray)
Nars Dark Rite Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
Nars Gaiety blush (bright candy-pink). I am so getting this!!!
Nars Valparaiso Pure Matte Lipstick, Nars Mexican Rose Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil, and Nars Bilbao Lipstick.
Nars Diamond Life Nail Polish - Limited edition.
Launch date: February, 2011.
Thoughts? Will you be picking something from this collection?
Kiss Kiss,
Fourth Runner-up Miss Universe 2010 Venus Raj is joining World Food Program and Yum! Brands World Hunger Relief campaign (the world's largest private sector fundraising effort to help alleviate hunger and under-nutrition).
In the Philippines, more than 165 Pizza hut and Taco Bell restaurants are raising money during the campaign to help the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) which, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Education (DepEd), provides nutritious meals to 80,000 elementary school students in conflict-affected areas of Central Mindanao.
This renewed partnership was recently launched at the Pizza Hut Restaurant at SM Araneta Center, and attended by WFP Philippines Country Director and Representative, Stephen Anderson, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell Philippines Chief Operating Officer, Lars Peterson, and World Hunger Relief Volunteer Ms. Venus Raj, who was recently appointed as the DWSD Ambassador for Poor Children’s Rights and Welfare.
“We are extremely grateful to Pizza Hut and Taco Bell for their consistently strong engagement and generous commitment over the past five years,” said Anderson. “Their support has made a tremendous difference in the lives of vulnerable children we are assisting by helping to keep them in school and giving them a fighting chance of breaking the cycle of poverty and hunger.”
“Thanks to our customers and employees, we are able to continue our support to WFP Philippines,” said Peterson. “Until the end of the year, for every order of a WFP meal at Taco Bell, we will give 10 Pesos to WFP’s School Feeding Programme. We also have coinbanks to accept donations in all our Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants nationwide. With a donation of 40 pesos or more, we will give our customers a Christmas Postcard featuring Venus Raj as a token of our appreciation. Our Pizza Hut and Taco Bell employees are going all out to help raise awareness and collect for this worthy cause.”

Earlier this year, Pizza Hut turned over 4.5 million pesos to WFP to support its School Feeding Programme in Central Mindanao, which generated about 450,000 meals for the 80,000 school children WFP has been assisting.
Venus Raj grew up in Bato, Camarines Sur, where she led a simple life and relied on scholarships and her own hard work to get ahead. Because she grew up poor, she appreciates the value of giving back and giving hope, especially to the hungry. Venus hopes the Christmas season will further invigorate the spirit of giving among Filipinos to again support the World Hunger Relief campaign. “Sabi nila, ang Pasko ay para sa mga bata. May pagkakataon tayong makatulong sa pamamagitan ng “World Hunger Relief campaign” ng maipadama natin sa mga bata sa Mindanao, ang tunay na diwa ng Pasko,” she said. (“They say that Christmas is for children. We have a chance to prove this by supporting the World Hunger Relief campaign and for us to share with the children of Mindanao the true spirit of Christmas.”)
Watch this video featuring Venus Raj for WFP:
Now in its fifth year, more than US$46.4 million has been raised globally for WFP through the World Hunger Relief Campaign, making a difference for more than 6.7 million people in 39 countries, including the Philippines. Funds raised through the campaign support WFP’s most urgent hunger needs, especially school meal programmes. School meals are important as an investment to break the cycle of poverty and hunger, by providing children with the food they need to develop their physical and mental potential, as well as getting an education.
About WFP:
WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 90 million people in more than 70 countries.

Kiss Kiss,
Last month, I was able to attend ETC's Vampire Diaries (love this show) inspired Halloween party (thanks to Nivea) at Club Vogue, New World Hotel, Makati City.
Special prizes awaited those who came in their most "vamped up" costumes. But since I came straight from another event, I decided not to go crazy. I just vamped my make up with a bloody red lipstick (Mac Perpetual Flame).
My outfit:
Dress: TopShop
Cover Up: Dorothy Perkins
Belt: Forever21
Shoes: Celine
Dress: TopShop

Belt: Forever21
Shoes: Celine
We were treated with awesome food, free-flowing drinks and music by ETC's spin doctor, DJ McCoy! In short, we had fun!
Thanks again to ETC and to Nivea for a wonderful experience!

For 40 years, Dermclinic provided nothing but excellent service and high-quality products to the public. Their commitment in providing quality skin health and beauty products makes Dermclinic one of the most highly trusted brand in the field of dermatological and cosmeceutical center in the country. Starting out as a regular skin care center in 1971, today, Dermclinic has already opened 21 branches (mostly in major malls nationwide) which facilitated easy access for the consumers. I can still remember my mom tagging me along with her at Dermclinic's branch at SM North when I was a kid. Those were fun memories. Little did I know that years after, I'd be invited to take part in celebrating Dermclinic's 4 decades of professional dermatology. Despite the gloomy weather and heavy traffic, I survived and arrived at Felix, Greenbelt 5 in one piece.
(Dress: Zara; Shoes: Celine; Bag: Jessica McClintock)
The event started with an invocation and welcoming remarks from no other than the father of Philippine dermatology and founder and President of Dermclinic, Dr. Vinson B. Pineda. Dr. Pineda trained in New York in Dermatopathology and Dermatology for the New York University's Skin and Cancer Unit. Currently, Dr. Pineda is the President of Philippine Academy of Clinical and Cosmetic Dermatology for the past 6 years and is also a member of the Philippine Medical Association. He has been in service for over 40 years and is also a practicing Christian and credits God in the success of all his endeavors.
I was an instant fan! Oh and here's a little side story: I told him that I couldn't fathom the fact that he founded a 40-year-old company. I was doing my math pretty hard (pre-med + med proper + residency). I told him he looked young and he returned my comment with amusement and said that he was already 76 years old. Seriously, my jaws almost dropped. He looked more like just in his sixties in my opinion.
I always have high regards for labels that make an effort to make this crazy world a better place each day. In this world overdosed with greediness and helplessness, it's nice to know that there are still companies who without equivocation gives significance to the act of giving and helping the impoverished. And TOMS is definitely part of that league.
About TOMS Shoes: In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. To date, TOMS has given over one million pairs of new shoes to children through giving partners around the world. And a little trivia: there is no TOM. Again, the founder's name is Blake. TOMS is actually an abbreviation for "Shoes for a Better Tomorrow", but they couldn't get that on the back of the shoe, so they shortened it to TOMS.
But why give shoes?
(this is an example of a pair that TOMS whole-heartedly gives to underprivileged children)
Because in many developing countries, children must walk barefooted for miles in going to school, in fetching clean water and in asking for medical help. Hundreds of millions of children are at risk for injury, infection and soil-transmitted diseases that most can't afford to prevent and treat. In giving shoes, TOMS not only addresses these children's physiological nees. Shoes have value beyond being critical for physical health. Many schools in developing countries require shoes for attendance (part of the uniform). And on that note, these shoes give them a better chance of improving the future of their entire community because access to education is a critical determinant of long-term success.

TOMS currently give shoes in 24 countries: Philippines, United States, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Haiti, Honduras, Peru, Argentina, Mali, Niger, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Ethiopia, South Africa, Malawi, Armenia, Mongolia, China and Cambodia. TOMS also don't give once and then just leave. They keep giving. Kids grow out of shoes, so TOMS strive to set up a sustainable giving partnerships that allow them to give repeatedly to these children as they grow (every six months).
Here in the Philippines, TOMS teamed up with these non-government organizations..
and was already able to provide shoes to children in these cities/provinces..
Watch the video below and see how TOMS shares their wonderful advocacy to our children here in the Philippines.
