Shoes and Polishes!

Yesterday, I went to two awesome sale events and treated myself to some indulgences (without breaking the bank!). My first stop was at Megatent, Ortigas for the Best Deals On Sale event. My primary purpose in going was my lust for buying Melissa shoes marked down at almost half their retail prices! The sizes were a little limited, but I think I was still able to score lovely pieces. And then, we went to the Phil-Cosmetics Expo at SM Megamall to visit Digital Traincase's stall. Their display rack was phenomenal! Too bad, I got so excited with the polishes that I forgot to take photos. Anyhoo, the NYX polishes (Php150 each) were at Buy 2 Take 1, so the little nail junkie in me told me to grab that deal, lol. Picking which nail polish to take home was really difficult because all the colors were super pretty. I want them all, no kidding! But I haven't tried NYX polishes before so I told myself that I will be fine with just three bottles (for now!). So after carefully contemplating, I got the following:

NYX Pinky Blush

NYX Pinky blush is screaming "matte hot pink" on the pan, but don't get intimidated with the color because with proper application, it goes divine on the cheeks; - creating lovely pink flushed cheeks! It actually reminds me of Mac Dollymix and a not-so-cool version of Nars Desire.

Few swipes on the apples of my cheeks and viola, a lovely pop of color that looks natural and healthy. However, I find that this blush doesn't stay very well on my skin and is a little bit on the chalky side. But considering it's overall quality for its price, NYX Pinky ($US6) is sweet deal!

NYX Blush in PB06 Peach

There is no better way to embrace the summer but with a healthy peachy glow! And even if you are in a budget, your cheeks can still be fabulous with the little help of NYX Peach!

NYX Peach is a pinkish peach based blush that gives the skin that soft lit-from-within glow. It blends well on my skin, has great pigmentation, and is extremely flattering on my fair skin. It's a matte, but still gives the skin that natural soft sheen. I also love its sleek packaging, its price (US$5) tag and the fact that the make up artist of Kim Kardashian uses this on her for that perfect peach flush (yep, I love Kim!).

However, there are a few things that I dislike about this blush. One, it's chalky. I hate the mess that it creates on my vanity table every time I use it. And second, it doesn't last long on my skin (max 3 hours). Perhaps, I'm just not used in having the need to retouch my blush. But other than those, I still think that this particular blush is a lovely make up find. :)

FOTD: NYX + MAC = Coral Love!

What do beauty bloggers like me do when we are bored? Easy, we play with our make up! And yep, that's precisely what I did today (while waiting for my food delivery, lol). I picked up some of my unloved make up items and spiced them up a little bit.

NYX Round Lipstick in Thalia

Nyx Thalia is a creamy dusky rose with mauve undertones. The color is lovely but it just doesn't look well with my skin tone (NC20). Unfortunately, it looks a little bit boring and odd on my bare face. I need to bronze up in order to make this work for me. However, the texture is gorgeous, velvety and feels great on. It is also highly pigmented and has that trademark soapy scent. The staying power is nothing impressive but it's fine. If you are a tad darker than me and you are looking for a nice cheap mauve-pink lipstick, well check Thalia out.

NYX Round Lipstick in Femme

Femme is my very first NYX lipstick and I adore it! It's super cheap but it delivers very well. I particularly like how bright red-orange it appears on me, - giving my pale face that pop of color! It is very creamy in texture, has a matte finish and lasts a couple of hours on me. However, I am not a fan of the soapy-like scent. I hope NYX will work on that.
